Week 8 First Trimester

A formal visit to your Ob-Gyne is now in order. Having missed two periods, tested positive on your pregnancy kit, and exhibited all the signs of pregnancy, it is now time for the professionals to take over.

Your first visit will be a lengthy one. Your Ob-Gyne will be asking you a lot of questions including the date of your last period, your weight, and your blood type. He will also put together your medical history as well as those of your husband’s and your immediate families. This will prepare you for any possible conditions or complications which you might encounter in the course of your pregnancy.

By this time, you will be able to hear your baby’s heart beat through a fetal doppler monitor.

Your Baby

Your baby is just blooming! His brain is rapidly forming while his genitals become either male or female. His bones are starting to harden as his toes and elbows begin to make an appearance. If you feel him moving, don’t be surprised.

By the end of the week, he will be 8 to 11 mm CR.
