Week 35 Third Trimester

You

The tip of your belly will now be around 6 inches above your navel. With five weeks to go before your estimated time of delivery (ETD), your prenatal visits will now be scheduled weekly. Your doctor will check the thickness of your cervix and may also schedule you for a Group B Strep Test.

Be prepared to change your knickers after you sneeze, cough, or laugh. Urinary incontinence is common is at this point because your growing baby has added pressure on your bladder.

You may also experience insomnia as it becomes more difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position. The anxiety of the nearing due date isn’t helping either.

Your Baby

Your baby now weighs 2.5 kilograms and has probably reached his delivery length. He may have a full head of hair and the nails on his toes and fingers are fully grown.

There is little space to play so he’s mostly content on staying in the same position throughout the day. That doesn’t mean that your baby will not be moving his hands and feet, though. His hiccups will also lessen because there’s not much amniotic fluid to swallow.

His lungs are now fully developed and he will not have trouble breathing should he be born right now. Meanwhile, finishing touches are added to his other vital organs.
